Aq. 10% citric acid (50 ml) and EtOAc (30 ml) were added and the organic layer separated. The aqueous layer was extracted with EtOAc (3 x 15 ml) and the combined organics were washed with water (3 x 20 ml), brine (20 ml), dried over Na^SOr. filtered and concentrated to give the product as a gum, which solidified upon standing (2.9 g, 86%).
