Most of the presently known thermosensitive shape-memory polymers suitable for 4D printing have insufficient mech. strength and thermal stability that restricts their potential areas of application. Here, new photosensitive compositions (PSCs) based on aromatic heterochain polymers – poly-N,N’-(m-phenylene)isophthalamide (MPA) or poly-2,2′-(p-oxydiphenylene)-5,5′-dibenzimidazole (OPBI) – for DLP printing are proposed. Thermal post-curing and supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO2) are used for post-processing of the structures. During the scCO2 treatment the removal of unreacted monomeric component (N,N-dimethylacrylamide) and its uncrosslinked oligomers is accompanied by the preservation of the initial degree of crosslinking. The more stable shrinkage is observed for the combined post-processing method (T°+scCO2) in the case of OPBI-PSC and after the heat treatment for MPA-PSC specimens. The method of post-processing and the nature of the heterochain polymer strongly affect the mech. properties and thermal resistance of the structures. The tensile strength has the maximum value after the thermal post-treatment (101.1 ± 7.1 and 78.4 ± 5.1 MPa of OPBI-PSC and MPA-PSC, resp.). The intense destruction of the materials is observed at 393 and 408°C for MPA-PSC and OPBI-PSC, resp. Moreover, the 4D-printed structures exhibit excellent shape memory performance at transition temperatures >100°C, thus have a great potential for the use in aerospace, robotics, sensorics. Herein, we report on the development of new ionomers, based on sulfonated poly(ether ether ketone) (SPEEK), engineered to conduct a variety of ions, namely Li+, Na+, K+, Zn2+, and Mg2+, when soaked with nonaqueous solvents. Application of a facile phase inversion method results in M-SPEEK (M = Li/Na/K/Zn/Mg) membranes with hierarchical porous network, facilitating organic solvent infusion that is necessary to promote dissociation and rapid transport of cations between anionic sulfonate groups on the polymer chains. This strategy leads to membranes with alkali ion conductivities approaching 10-4 S cm-1 at room temperature, and near unity cation transference numbers (tΜ+ ≥ 0.9). Furthermore, an exceptionally high Zn-ion conductivity of 10-2 S cm-1 is obtained for the water infused Zn-SPEEK membrane. In comparison, the dense membranes demonstrate 2-3 orders of magnitude lower conductivities due to insufficient solvent infusion. The development of a facile approach to fabricate anion exchange membranes (AEMs) with efficient ionic transport and desirable stabilities (mech. and dimensional) for various applications is meaningful. In this work, a two-step strategy for the preparation of AEMs with 3D network structure, via crosslinking reaction between 2-chloroacetamide (CAA) modified poly (vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene) (PVDF-HFP) and N,N,N’,N’-tetramethyl-1,4-diaminobutane (TMDAB) has been reported. The as-prepared AEMs with ion-exchange capacity (IEC) in the range of 1.38-1.84 mmol g-1, exhibit the much lower water uptake (13.14-22.45%, 80°C) relative to the un-crosslinked AEM (35.89%, 80°C). In addition, due to the presence of fluorine-based 3D network structure, the as-prepared AEMs show much enhanced mech. and thermal stability in comparison with the un-crosslinked AEM. In the electrodialysis (ED) application, the optimized AEM shows the higher current efficiency (78.6%) and lower energy consumption (2.01 kWh kg-1 NaCl) than those of com. AEM AEM-Type II (76.4%; 2.26 kWh kg-1), resp., within 150 min of operation interval. The proposed facile fabrication protocol and the better-performance of optimized PVDF-HFP -based AEM demonstrate the potential ED application. Influences from ultrasonic sample extraction and the clean-up steps to reduce matrix effects were investigated. Under suitable conditions, good linearity (deviation of back calculated concentration from true concentration lower than 20%) was achieved for all studied pesticides; the method detection limits (MDLs) ranged from 1.4 to 3.6 ng g-1 wet weight For mustard green and green onion the method yielded good recoveries at two spiking levels (201 and 100 ng g-1) ranging from 80% to 111% (n = 5). The repeatability, expressed as relative standard deviation (RSD), was lower than 11% (n = 5). The method was successfully used to quantify pesticide residues in 207 vegetable samples (green onions, mustard greens, and lettuce) collected in Thua Thien Hue and Quang Binh Provinces, Central Vietnam. The insecticide cypermethrin was found at critical levels in 98% of the vegetable samples. Green onions had high pesticide residues with a significant number of samples containing pesticides at concentrations exceeding the maximum residue levels (MRLs).
