Abis, Letizia published the artcileMeasurement report: biogenic volatile organic compound emission profiles of rapeseed leaf litter and its secondary organic aerosol formation potential, Category: amides-buliding-blocks, the main research area is volatile organic compound emission aerosol rapeseed leaf litter.

We analyzed the biogenic volatile organic compound (BVOC) emissions from rapeseed leaf litter and their potential to create secondary organic aerosols (SOAs) under three different conditions, i.e., (i) in the presence of UV light irradiation, (ii) in the presence of ozone, and (iii) with both ozone and UV light. These experiments were performed in a controlled atm. simulation chamber containing leaf litter samples, where BVOC and aerosol number concentrations were measured for 6 d. Our results show that BVOC emission profiles were affected by UV light irradiation which increased the summed BVOC emissions compared to the experiment with solely O3. Furthermore, the diversity of emitted VOCs from the rapeseed litter also increased in the presence of UV light irradiation SOA formation was observed when leaf litter was exposed to both UV light and O3, indicating a potential contribution to particle formation or growth at local scales. To our knowledge, this study investigates, for the first time, the effect of UV irradiation and O3 exposure on both VOC emissions and SOA formation for leaf litter samples. A detailed discussion about the processes behind the biol. production of the most important VOC is proposed.

Mazur, Marzena published the artcileDevelopment of Dual Chitinase Inhibitors as Potential New Treatment for Respiratory System Diseases, Related Products of amides-buliding-blocks, the main research area is aminotriazolyl piperidin amine preparation chitinases inhibitor respiratory system disease.

Acidic mammalian chitinase (AMCase) and chitotriosidase-1 (CHIT1) are two enzymically active proteins produced by mammals capable of cleaving the glycosidic bond in chitin. Based on the clin. findings and animal model studies, involvement of chitinases has been suggested in several respiratory system diseases including asthma, COPD, and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. Exploration of structure-activity relationships within the series of 1-(3-amino-1H-1,2,4-triazol-5-yl)-piperidin-4-amines, which was earlier identified as a scaffold of potent AMCase inhibitors, led us to discover highly active dual (i.e., AMCase and CHIT1) inhibitors with very good pharmacokinetic properties. Among them, compound 30 was shown to reduce the total number of cells in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid of mice challenged with house dust mite extract after oral administration (50 mg/kg, qd). In addition, affinity toward the hERG potassium channel of compound 30 was significantly reduced when compared to the earlier reported chitinase inhibitors.

Despite recent advances in the field of cyclic alkyl amino carbenes (CAACs) including a few complementary synthetic strategies affording CAACs with various substitution patterns, the application potential of chiral CAACs to efficiently catalyze asym. organometallic transformations remains largely underdeveloped. Herein, authors describe a convenient and robust route that incorporates common chiral primary amine allowing access of a broad range of chiral CAACs precursors. The corresponding transition-metal complexes with Cu, Au, Ru, Rh, Ir, and Pd were obtained in a straightforward manner. The steric parameters of the complexes were comprehensively collected by x-ray single-crystal anal. to serve as a source of information for further ligand design. The preliminary application potential of the copper CAAC complexes was tested in asym. conjugate borylation of an α,β-unsaturated ester providing 89:11 er, thus illustrating the potential of chiral CAACs in asym. catalysis.

Harten, Paul published the artcileFinding Potential Replacements for TRI Solvents Using the Environmental Impact of the Average Solvent, Formula: C2H5NO, the main research area is toxics release inventory solvent potential replacement; Environmental impacts; Health impacts; Solvent substitution; Solvents.

A solvent has many different types of impact on the environment. This article describes a method that combines several different types of impacts together into one environmental index so that similar solvents may be compared by their cumulative impact to the environment. The software tool PARIS III (Program for Assisting the Replacement of Industrial Solvents III) initially finds thousands of solvents mixtures with behaviors as close as possible to those of the original solvent entered. The overall environmental impacts of these solvent mixtures are estimated and assigned to environmental indexes. Users of the software tool can then choose replacements for the original solvent with similar activities but with significantly smaller environmental indexes. These solvent mixtures may act as practical substitutes for the industrial solvents but substantially reduce the overall environmental impact of the original harmful solvents. Potential replacements like this are found for three of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Toxic Release Inventory solvents, carbon tetrachloride, toluene, and N-methylpyrrolidone.

This work characterized emissions from IQOS, a heated tobacco product promoted as a less harmful alternative to cigarettes. Consumable tobacco plugs were analyzed by headspace gas chromatog./mass spectrometry to assess the heating temperature effect on the emission profile. Yields of major chem. constituents increased from 4.1 mg/unit at 180° to 6.2 mg at 200°, and 10.5 mg at 220°. The Health Canada Intense smoking regime was used to operate IQOS in an environmental chamber, quantifying 33 volatile organic compounds in mainstream and side-stream emissions. Aldehydes, nitrogenated species, and aromatic species were observed as were other harmful and potentially harmful compounds Compared to combustion cigarettes, IQOS yields were, in most cases, 1-2 orders of magnitude lower; however, yields were closer to and sometimes higher than, electronic cigarettes. Predicted user daily average benzene, formaldehyde, acetaldehyde and acrolein intakes were 39, 32, 2.2, and 71 μg, resp. Indoor air concentrations were estimated for commonly encountered scenarios, with acrolein levels of concern (>0.35 μg/m3) derived from IQOS used in homes and public spaces. New Journal of Chemistry published new progress about Electric current-potential relationship. 123-39-7 belongs to class amides-buliding-blocks, name is N-Methylformamide, and the molecular formula is C2H5NO, Safety of N-Methylformamide.

Aynehband, Samaneh published the artcileEfficient FAPbI3-PbS quantum dot graphene-based phototransistors, Safety of N-Methylformamide, the main research area is formamidinium lead iodide sulfide quantum dot graphene phototransistor.

The high mobility of charge carriers in graphene (G) together with the ease of processing and tunable optical properties of colloidal quantum dots (CQD) has provided high-performance hybrids for the next generation of phototransistors. In order to get a higher quality film of PbS QDs, understanding the effect of the ligand exchange method is critical So, to improve the interdot electronic coupling, we propose a new conducting ligand to prepare a dense and self-assembled active layer of FAPbI3-PbS quantum dots on G/Si/SiO2 substrates. Quantum dot (QD) nanocrystalline films were prepared via two different procedures: liquid phase ligand exchange (LPE) and solid phase ligand exchange (SPE). SPE with formamidinium lead iodide significantly increases the packing d. and surface coverage of the active layer on the graphene substrate. Efficient light absorption in the near IR region and reduced charge transport resistance in the QD film are demonstrated. The SPE fabricated graphene-based heterostructure phototransistors exhibit improved specific detectivity (by 34%) and ION/IOFF ratio (by 23%) as compared with LPE. Our findings pave a way to develop high-throughout graphene-based phototransistors based on FAPbI3-CQDs.

Meddeb, Amira Barhoumi published the artcileFrom a cholesteric non-aqueous cellulose nanocrystal suspension to a highly ordered film, Formula: C2H5NO, the main research area is cellulose nanocrystal methylformamide film non aqueous suspension magnetic anisotropy.

A highly ordered cellulose nanocrystal (CNC) film was processed and characterized from a non-aqueous suspension. As a first step, by drawing upon the neg. magnetic anisotropy of CNCs, a global order of the nanocrystals is achieved by magnetic field-assisted manipulation of a cholesteric suspension in n-methylformamide (NMF), and then the order is subsequently preserved into a solid-state film. We study the differences between the structures of the 4 T-dried film and the control film dried in the absence of magnetic field. Addnl., we compare the NMF-dried films to those dried from aqueous suspensions with and without magnetic field. Optical microscopy, cross-sectional imaging anal., and sum frequency generation (SFG) spectroscopy show that the CNC-NMF film dried under magnetic field exhibited a highly ordered layered structure throughout the film, comparable to that observed when films were produced from aqueous suspensions. Extending the potential of the CNC alignment to non-aqueous systems will enable a broad spectrum of applications for CNC-based polymer composites.

Xiao, Miao published the artcileTransition-Metal-Free Hydrogen Autotransfer: Diastereoselective N-Alkylation of Amines with Racemic Alcohols, Quality Control of 343338-28-3, the main research area is diastereoselective alkylation amines alc chiral amine synthesis; alcohols; alkylation; amines; deuterium; reaction mechanisms.

A practical method for the synthesis of α-chiral amines by alkylation of amines with alcs. in the absence of any transition-metal catalysts has been developed. Under the co-catalysis of a ketone and NaOH, racemic secondary alcs. reacted with Ellman’s chiral tert-butanesulfinamide by a hydrogen autotransfer process to afford chiral amines with high diastereoselectivities (up to >99:1) [e.g., 1-phenylethanol + (R)-(+)-tert-butanesulfinamide → I (70%, > 95:5 d.r.) in presence of acetophenone and NaOH in toluene]. Broad substrate scope and up to a 10 g scale production of chiral amines were demonstrated. The method was applied to the synthesis of chiral deuterium-labeled amines with high deuterium incorporation and optical purity, including examples of chiral deuterated drugs. The configuration of amine products is found to be determined solely by the configuration of the chiral tert-butanesulfinamide regardless of that of alcs., and this is corroborated by DFT calculations Further mechanistic studies showed that the reaction is initiated by the ketone catalyst and involves a transition state similar to that proposed for the Meerwein-Ponndorf-Verley (MPV) reduction, and importantly, it is the interaction of the sodium cation of the base with both the nitrogen and oxygen atoms of the sulfinamide moiety that makes feasible, and determines the diastereoselectivity of, the reaction.
