Metal-free, visible-light-induced denitrogenative phosphorylation of 1,2,3-benzotriazinones was achieved. With the use of eosin Y as a photoredox catalyst, N,N-diisopropylethylamine as a base, CH3CN-H2O as a solvent and sunlight or a blue LED as a light source, a variety of aryl-phosphonates, aryl-phosphinates, and aryl-phosphine oxides were efficiently prepared. In addition, B(2)pin(2) instead of P-nucleophiles as a radical acceptor was also demonstrated. The key advantages of this newly developed method are the clean reaction profile, use of a low-cost organic-dye catalyst, energy efficiency, broad substrate scope, good to excellent yields and large-scale synthetic applicability. The gram-scale synthesised compounds could be isolated in pure form just upon extraction, followed by re-crystallisation; no tedious chromatographic purification was required.

A method for generation of Pd/phosphite-oxazoline catalysts containing an alkyl backbone chain has been successfully applied to Pd-catalyzed allylic substitution reactions. By carefully selecting the substituents at both the alkyl backbone chain and the oxazoline of the ligand, as well as the configuration of the biaryl phosphite group, high activities (TOF > 8000 mol substrate X (mol Pd X h)(-1)) and excellent enantioselectivities (ee’s up to 99%) have been achieved for many hindered and unhindered substrates with a wide range of C-, O-, and N-nucleophiles (73 substitution products in total). Moreover, DFT and NMR studies of the key Pd-allyl complexes allowed us to better understand the origin of the excellent enantioselectivities observed experimentally. The useful application of the Pd/phosphite-oxazoline catalysts was demonstrated by the syntheses of many chiral carbobicycles, with multiples stereocenters, by simple sequential reactions involving Pd-allylic substitution and either 1,6-enyne cyclization or Pauson-Khand enyne cyclization.

A series of oxy-ether tris-amino heteroditopic macrobicycles (L1-L4) with various cavity dimensions have been synthesized and explored for their Cu(II) catalyzed selective single step aerial oxidative cross-coupling of primary alcohol based anilines with several aromatic amines toward the formation of primary alcohol appended cross azobenzenes (POCABs). The beauty of this transformation is that the easily oxidizable benzyl/primary alcohol group remains unhampered during the course of this oxidation due to the protective oxy-ether pocket of this series of macrobicyclic vessels. Various dimensionalities of the molecular vessels have shown specific size complementary selection for substrates toward efficient syntheses of regioselective POCAB products. To establish the requirement of the three-dimensional cavity based additives, a particular catalytic reaction has been examined in the presence of macrobicycles (L2 and L3) versus macrocycles (MC1 and MC2) and tripodal acyclic (AC1 and AC2) analogous components, respectively. Subsequently, L1-L4 have been extensively utilized toward the syntheses of as many as 44 POCABs and are characterized by different spectroscopic techniques and single crystal X-ray diffraction studies.

Three novel hexacoordinated nickel catalysts containing salicylaldbenzhydrylimine ligand and tetrahydrofuran heterocycle, Ni{(THF) (3-R-1) (5-R-2)C6H2(O)CHNCH(C6H5)(2)}(2), (R-1 = Br, R-2 = H, Ni1; R-1 = Br, R-2 = Br, Ni2; R-1 = Cl, R-2 = Cl, Ni3.), were synthesized and their molecular structures were confirmed by X-ray crystallography. Ni1-Ni3 catalysts exhibited high activities (0.53-2.11 x 10(6) g(polymer)/mol(Ni).h) toward norbornene homopolymerization and high activity (0.29-2.62 x 10(5) g(polymer)/mol(Ni).h) to copolymerization of norbornene and 1-hexene. When the 1-hexene feed ratio was changed from 10 to 70%, the 1-hexene content in the obtained copolymers could be controlled to 8.23-26.58%. The Ni3 with R-1 and R-2 were both electron withdrawing groups (-Cl) on the aromatic ring of salicylaldehyde, showed the highest activity as well as the highest 1-hexene insert ratios. At the same time, only a small amount of B(C6F5)(3) cocatalyst (5 x 10(-5) mol) need to be consumed in the copolymerization process. In addition, the obtained copolymers had a high thermal decomposition temperature (T-d > 386 degrees C) and a low glass transition temperature (T-g = 208.67-237.42 degrees C), which showed that the processability of these polymers was improved while the high thermal decomposition temperature was kept. A simple and efficient protocol for the formylation of amines with formic acid, catalyzed by a polyoxometalate-based chromium catalyst, is described. Notably, this method shows excellent activity and chemo-selectivity for the formylation of primary amines; diamines have also been successfully employed. Importantly, the chromium catalyst is potentially non-toxic, environmentally benign and safer than the widely used high valence chromium catalysts such as CrO3 and K2Cr2O7. The catalyst can be recycled several times with a negligible impact on activity. Finally, a plausible mechanism is provided based on the observation of intermediate and control experiments.

In a search for novel multifunctional anti-Alzheimer agents, a congeneric set of seventeen flavone-8-acrylamide derivatives (8a-q) were synthesized and evaluated for their cholinesterase inhibitory, antioxidant, neuroprotective and modulation of A beta aggregation activities. The target compounds showed effective and selective inhibitory activity against the AChE over BuChE. In addition, the target compounds also showed moderate antioxidant activity and strong neuroprotective capacities, and accelerated dosage-dependently the A beta aggregation. Also, we presented here a complete study on the interaction of 8a, 8d, 8e, 8h and 8i with AChE. Through fluorescence emission studies, the binding sites number found to be 1, binding constants were calculated as 2.04 x 10(4), 2.22 x 10(4), 1.18 x 10(4), 9.8 x 10(3) and 3.2 x 10(4) M-1 and free energy change as -5.83, -5.91, -5.51, -5.41 and -6.12 kcal M-1 at 25 degrees C which were well agreed with the computational calculations indicating a strong binding affinity of flavones and AChE. Furthermore, the CD studies revealed that the secondary structure of AChE became partly unfolded upon binding with 8a, 8d, 8e, 8h and 8i.

Based on the characteristic of benzo[d][1,2,3]thiadiazole to induce the systemic acquired resistance and improve the immunity of plants, benzo[d][1,2,3]thiadiazole was introduced into 1,2,3-benzotriazin-4-one, thirty-one novel 1,2,3-benzotriazin-4-one derivatives containing benzo[d][1,2,3]thiadiazole were designed and synthesized. Nematicidal activity showed that most of the synthesized compounds exhibited great inhibitory activity in vivo against Meloidogyne incognita at 20 mg/L. Among 31 tested compounds, A2 and A3 showed an excellent nematicidal activity with the inhibition rate of 50.4% and 53.1% at the concentration of 1.0 mg/L, respectively. The influence of substituent type and position was investigated. The relationship between structure and activity was also preliminary analyzed.
