This paper examines the mechanisms of interaction between two modifiers in asphalt binder: an amide-based bio-modifier, and natural rubber vulcanized by sulfur crosslinks. This phenomenon is reflected in the empirical results: a reduction in viscosity, due to devulcanization; and an increased resistance to fatigue, due to improved interaction between rubber and bitumen. This study provides an in-depth understanding of the surface devulcanization mechanism of rubber, in addition to insights into the complex devulcanization process happening inside a bio-modified mixture of rubber and asphalt binder. The results of this study help expand the knowledge of bio-modifiers and present a new approach for devulcanization.

TMU-81 showed significant enhancement in heavy metals uptake suggesting that the strong host guest interactions between cations and the donor sites play a major role in adsorption process. The maximum adsorption capacity for Cd2+ was 526 mg/ g which is among the highest values reported for similar MOFs and other porous materials. The good performance in uptake and selectivity of TMU-81 can be attributed to the network structure that shaping the void, create mono-dimensional channels, decorated by exposed oxygen atom sites selective for Cadmium ion. Environmental compatibility of a treated MOFs was studied in order to evaluate its possible recycling as a new template for different applications by using pyrolysis method. Engineering of the pore surface provides a potential for MOF with a hybrid interface to act as a versatile tool for the design of multifunctional nanoparticles to meet specific application requirements.

Here, we propose an adaptation of Delta-machine-learning methodology that goes beyond the spectroscopic maps. The machine-learning part of our approach combines Gaussian process regression used to generate the data set with an artificial neural network used to predict spectroscopic properties of interest. Our method approximates these properties about two times more accurately than the spectroscopic-maps-only-based approach. Our results become useful in the study of vibrational spectroscopy of condensed-phase systems.
