The mixture was dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate and concentrated under vacuum. The residue was applied onto a silica gel column eluting with ethyl acetate/petroleum ether (1:2). This resulted in 11.7 g (75%) of tert-butyl 8-(2-bromopyridin-4-yl)-3,8-diazabicyclo[3.2.1]octane-3-carboxylate as a yellow solid.
