Seed aging affects the agricultural production and quality of food. Therefore, it is of great significance to distinguish the aging seed quickly for food security. In this work, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy combined with curve-fitting analysis and hierarchical cluster analysis (HCA) was used to identify the legume seeds of different aging time. The results showed that the infrared spectroscopy of legume seeds were mainly composed of the absorption peaks of proteins and carbohydrates. The overall characteristics of the original spectra of seeds in different aging time were similar, but the absorption ratios of several peaks decreased with the increasing aging time. Amide I band (1700-1600 cm(-1)) and carbohydrate absorption band (1180-980 cm(-1)) in the original spectra were carried out for curve fitting. The results showed that the sub-bands position and area ratios of different aging seeds were obviously different. There were significant differences in beta-folding, disordered structure, alpha-helix and beta-corner components in the secondary structure of proteins and C-O, C-C and C-O-H components in polysaccharides during aging. Hierarchical cluster analysis was performed using second derivative spectra in the range of 1800-800 cm(-1), and the accuracy of clustering reached 100%. The results showed that FTIR combined with curve. fitting analysis and HCA could identify the natural aging legume seeds quickly and effectively.

Meanwhile, WSe2-PVP NPs are for the first time used for the cryopreservation of human umbilical vein endothelial cell (HUVEC)-laden constructs based on rapid freezing with low concentrations of cryoprotectants (CPAs), the experimental results indicate that a minimal concentration (0.5 mg mL(-1)) of WSe2-PVP NPs can increase the viabilities of HUVECs in the constructs post cryopreservation (from 55.8% to 83.4%) and the cryopreserved constructs can also keep good condition in vivo within 7 days. Therefore, this work provides a novel strategy to synergistically suppress the formation and growth of the ice crystalsfor the cryopreservation of cells, tissues, or organs.

Moreover, these novel N-phenyl-chromone-2-carboxamides inhibited ABCG2 in a Hoechst 33342 transport assay with potencies in the low three-digit nanomolar range, reversed MDR in cancer cells, were non-toxic and proved stable in blood plasma. All properties make them attractive candidates for in vitro assays requiring long-term incubation and in vivo studies, both needing sufficient solubility at equilibrium. 41 and 49 were highly ABCG2-selective, a precondition for developing PET tracers. The triple ABCB1/C1/G2 inhibitor 40 qualifies for potential therapeutic applications, given the concerted role of the three transporter subtypes at many tissue barriers, e.g. the BBB. Here, we investigate an unusual DMSO-induced conformational transition of beta(2)-amyloid fibrils from poly-L-glutamic acid (PLGA). The infrared spectra of beta(2)-PLGA dissolved in DMSO lack the typical features associated with disordered conformation that are observed when amyloid fibrils from other proteins are dispersed in DMSO. Instead, the frequency and unusual narrowness of the amide I band imply the presence of highly ordered helical structures, which is supported by complementary methods, including vibrational circular dichroism and Raman optical activity. We argue that the conformation most consistent with the spectroscopic data is that of a PLGA chain essentially lacking nonhelical segments such as bends that would provide DMSO acceptors with direct access to the backbone. A structural study of DMSO-dissolved beta(2)-PLGA by synchrotron small-angle X-ray scattering reveals the presence of long uninterrupted helices lending direct support to this hypothesis. Our study highlights the dramatic effects that solvation may have on conformational transitions of large polypeptide assemblies.

Synthesis and characterization of thermo-sensitive block copolymer of N-isopropyl acryl amide-b-Alanine [(NIPAM)-b-(Alanine)] thin film and its doping with (AuNPs)-(SiO2NPs), (gold and silica nanoparticles) were reported.
